I also think Kulak is getting sheltered for the expansion. Realistically if Stone can find his Mojo its a decent price. If not and he is plays like crap maybe he gets signed for a much more friendy contract.

It's a gamble, but one that does not cost a lot and will not have grave consequences come the expansion draft.

But lets see the guy play.

It's actually a great deal for Calgary. He's gonna help out with some of the heavy lifting that Wideman isn't suited for. He cost merely a 3rd rounder and a 5th upon resigning with the team and he's a right shot who can play 24 minutes a game. Treliving is really good at this GM thing.

Landeskog's a LW so we'd probably leave Bennett at centre (but I do like the idea of Bennett and Landy together)

Not sure I'd like the price. Rumour was they asked Ottawa for Ceci, 1st, a blue chip prospect and "other assets" for either Landeskog or Duchene. Ottawa promptly told Sakic to go fist himself.

Landeskog should be cheaper...I think if we were to table a similar offer to what they wanted from Ottawa it'd be something like:

JJ/Kulak
Fat Rass/Kylington
2017 1st
Shinkaruk

No way in hell I'd pay any more than that for Duchene or Landeskog. I'd also want to keep Kulak and Fat Rass if I could. Kylington could be a stud, but I think Rass is more of the type of dman we need to round out our top 3.

In all seriousness, I'd be very surprised if we decided to trade goalies at this point in the season. If Elliott can play like he did last game for the rest of the year I think we would be very happy with our goaltending.

Lol, well, yeah, 5 minutes after that,BT came on to say that he had been having discussions with Arizona since the summer...

I am fairly sure they aren't done yet, but what will be interesting to see is what the costs end up being over the next week or so. Can they move Wideman out? Will they bring in a legit top 6 winger? Is it just bit parts that they acquire (depth moves)?

IMO, I think we see another depth move or two with no major splash before the deadline, Flames walk away with most of their NHL roster intact and there are no takers for Wideman.
